Hey there, eco-loving paddlers. Mark your calendars for September 12, from 4 to 6 p.m., because we're headed to Oleta River State Park to team up with Clean Miami Beach and the Brady Hunter Foundation for a good old-fashioned shoreline cleanup. We'll be paddling out to Sandspur Island to give some unwanted litter a proper goodbye. Bring the whole family, even that neighbor who's always "borrowing" your stuff. Everyone is welcome, and you can rack up some community service hours while you're at it—it's like getting a gold star for helping Mother Earth.
We'll be gathering near the Kayak Rental Outdoor Center in North Miami Beach, and good news—parking is free, so you won't have to break the bank. Those wanting to hop into a kayak should arrive early, as they're available on a first-come, first-served basis. Don't forget to wear closed-toed shoes because we'd like to avoid any accidental toe sunburns. Bring your hydration in something reusable—no plastic bottles allowed, let's keep it classy. And while you're at it, slather on some reef-safe sunscreen and wear a hat to shield yourself from the sun's intense vibes. We'll provide the cleanup gear, so just bring your best paddling skills and a smile.
