On Thursday, May 1, swing by the Frost Planetarium for a brainy evening with Dr. Mark Finlayson from Florida International University. He'll be dishing out knowledge on "The Past, Present and Future of Thinking Machines" as part of LIVE@Frost Science. With the museum gearing up for its upcoming exhibition AI: More Than Human, this is your chance to find out how artificial intelligence has shaped our world. Dr. Finlayson will unpack the mysteries of how machines chew on language and learn—spoiler alert, it's not like a toddler with a cereal box. He'll also help you navigate the wild waters of AI's real impact on our lives, separating the truth from the overhyped sci-fi hype.
The evening kicks off at 7:00 p.m., but doors open at 6:30 p.m. so grab your seat before they're gone, 'cause it's first-come, first-served. And don't worry about breaking the bank; admission is free, but remember, tickets are limited. Just a heads up, though: access to this event doesn't grant you a pass to roam the museum, since all exhibits will be closing by 6:00 p.m. If you're feeling peckish or parched before the show, there will be food and drinks available for purchase. It's a casual night of AI exploration—who knows, you might even leave with more knowledge than your iPhone.
